The backbone of the Conservation movement in Tennessee is the array of citizens groups who are about the business of environmental stewardship. One such group is the Tennessee Native Plant Society. Formed in 1978, this volunteer organization works to promote the understanding of native flora and the key role it plays in our ecological systems. TNPS also works to protect rare and endangered plants and the habitat that permits them to thrive.
Representing that organization, our guest Bart Jones is a present Director of TNPS and a Past President of that organization. Trained in Biology at UT Martin, he has a keen interest in native orchids and is frequently called upon to lead field trip and to speak about them.
