Rocky Fork State Park in Unicoi County is one of Tennessee’s newest State Parks. It is a virtually undeveloped slice of a beautiful Tennessee mountainside. Highly desirable as a destination for hiking and fly fishing, this park has yet to develop any considerable infrastructure. There is no public water supply at the park, only portable toilets and very limited parking available. And, so, birthing a new State Park can present real challenges. Today’s decisions will have long lasting implications. We talk with Park Manager Jesse Germeraad about the resource there and light touch approach they are taking in bringing this park into the future.
